The F´n Wind

Day: 168

Day 168-3.JPG

Popeye would say “Well, Blow me down” and since it did almost blow me down I thought it be perfect for the occasion. Today we (myself & the Germans Marcus and Amanda) hiked a 13 mile round trip up to another couple of glaciers above Laguna Tres. It was quite a climb, that summited right below the Fitz Roy peak on a couple of glacial lakes. The wind was so strong on the summit that many times it almost knocked me over, or I´d have to hold on to rocks just to keep some semblance of balance.

So for a world premire I am putting the first video I ever have on this website (I hope it works) just so you can live the wind with me. Let me know if you have problems with it.

It was getting late when we finally got off the mountain, and since Marcus and I had been talking about eating Bife de Lomo all day, we decided on finding a Parilla tonight , drinking lots of red wine, and basically living the life of western glutiny. We found our Aussie friend Liz (who had been hurt from yesterdays hike and couldn´t come today) and another German couple and headed out.

Rob…. If you start finding other people that keep travel (or any other things you are interested in) blogs and link them. AND comment regularly on thier blogs… You will be FAMOUS in no time. Its about getting involved in that community.

1… Start with people on bootsnall and make a link to thier site from yours…..Find the blogs you like..
    2. Comment on their blogs….
    3. Watch as they all come look at yours and you start to get tons of comments from them and others (cause they will link you).

    It works…. trust me.

All I can say are “awesome photos”!!
Your photos remind me of the High Sierras. I can’t wait until we hike the John Muir Trail this summer. We just took the “Preparing for Mount Whitney” class.

I love the subject matter in your photos. By the way, do you have a feel for the altitude you are at in the mountains? How cold is it? The photos show you in a T-Shirt, but there are glaciers around and a strong wind. Where is “Patagonia? Is it a state or region in Argentinia?

  • Randy says:

Wow, that’s some beautiful country you’re passing through. Any place there to rent a tent and sleeping bag? I’d be tempted to spend a week out in the wilderness hunting for those “perfect shots”.

BTW, I think you’ve set a record for yourself for most posts in a row without any drunken stupor stories. The locals must be over charging for the liquor :-)

I can tell that new equipment is getting put to some good use. I laughed about the bike ride…and all those others who didnt have a clue of your prior exp. Keep up the good work, wish I were there, take it easy-
