Seeing My Future

Scared:

At the end of last week the family doctor was removing a suspect skin cancer  mole from my mothers stomach, and when the lab results came back we found it was malignant (meaning the bad cancer).   A surgery was set up for yesterday afternoon to try to get the rest of it out. We hope [...]

Stage Left

Offstage:

135mm, F/2, 1/125 sec, ISO 800.  I find myself getting really comfortable here for this type of theater/rockband-esque type stuff.  Sometimes I wish I could move around more during the shows, but seeing how photographing them isn’t official business I do my best to stay near my actual “job” stage left.
Oh, and in case you [...]

Warm a House

Late B-Day Party:

Madalyn’s birthday was last week, but since her party fell into the same time period as her Dad’s 35th, and the family moving into a new house, she got a combined party that celebrated two birthdays, a house warming and a chili cook off to keep everyone warm.  I mean, you have to [...]

Working the Cold War

Dang, It’s Almost April:

I spent the day working on a “Cold War Kids” concert, and I have to say, I was slightly impressed… Not impressed enough to go out and buy their album, just enough to enjoy listening to it while I worked.

Another Woman I Miss

Missing:

It was an amazing Southern California springtime day, so I jumped on my motorcycle for a ride to nowhere in particular. After a while I realized what was nearby, so I turned in to see her.
So I know I rant on her all the time about missing my soon-to-be-wife, Felicia, but there is another woman [...]

Something Soothing

Naked:

There is something soothing about the emptiness in a simple American backyard.  The warped fence boards, or the abandoned wagon?  I want to try to give my images a sense of place, something I feel they are lacking at times.

Under the Pier

Beneath:

I really like this picture, the smoothness of the water and the sharp muscles living on the pylons just make me happy for some reason.   I didn’t get it up two days ago when I shot it, so you are getting it now.  Going to try and get out to somewhere different and see if [...]

Work Work Work

At Work:

I spent 14 hours today buried in a dark theater working on a concert.  I am not 100% sure, but I believe this guy’s name is Danny Levine and he was playing with the opening act, Lenka. Now I am going to bed, exhausted.

The Perfect Bird

Standing Still:

So Mr. Bird here decided to stand almost perfectly still throughout the entire 25 seconds of this exposure at Newport Pier.  I have a few similar frames before and after he was there, and the picture wasn’t the same. So much to my future wife’s dismay, I say “Thank you, Mr. Bird” (although he [...]

Time Apart

In LA:

The days go by and we save, for our future together, for our wedding, for the unexpected.  We have been apart way to long and it will be longer yet until we hold each other again.  We talk on the phone as a poor subsitiute for contact, I try to make her laugh and [...]
