Jungle!

Day: 390 We got up early this morning to get to the military airport to get on our military transport, into the Jungle town of Rurrenbaque, in the Amazon basin, complete with grass runway. We were planning on getting on one of the cheap 3 day ($50) tours throughout the region, but after some research [...]

Dangerous?

Day: 389 La Paz is one of the places in the world I have heard the worst horror stories from other travelers about, everything from kidnapping you for your credit card PIN numbers, to assulting you in dark alleys, to taxi drivers who physically attack you with wrenches. Needless to say I was extremely wary. [...]

Jungle Preps.

Day: 388 Malaria medicine – check. Mosquito coils – check. Plane tickets on military transport to Runnenbaque – check. A load of Snickers bars – check. Looks like we’re ready for the jungle the day after tomorrow!

La Paz

Day: 387 YAAY! We´re better. (or so it seems for the moment) Spent the day taking it easy, talking in coffee shops and wandering the streets a little. Not to bad, if I don´t say so. An entire day without a case of the ¨grippe¨ (as the locals call our belly problems). If we continue [...]

Try Not To Hate

Day: 386  Please try not to hate me too much, after the last 3 years of pictures this moment of weakness had to happen. I feel as if I have lost my blogging touch. All this recovery time has made my life boring, and no one want to read boring blogs, so I promise, soon, [...]

Still Nothing

Day: 385   I´m doing alright, she isn´t.  It could be the 4000 meter altitude, or the shady Bolivia water, but I spent the day bringing her chicken soup and Gatorade to try to get her to feel better.  By the evening Felicia seemed to be doing slightly better and was even talking about actually [...]

Being Sick Sucks…

Day: 384   In addition to having to run to the bathroom constantly, the inability to get out and take pictures bothers me.  Hopefully in a day or two this will finally clear and Felicia and I will be back at the traveling. Until then we will be holed up in our room shooting pictures [...]

North!

Day : 383   After a final, day of recovery from both the horses and our week of illness, Felicia and I boarded the night train north to Oruro, with the hopes of making it to one of South Americas more dangerous cities, La Paz, tomorrow.

Horses and My Ass

Day: 382 I woke up feeling 98%, Felicia was feeling about half that.  Still determined we forced ourselves out of bed early, found our way to the train station (which, for any of you ever in Tupiza, isn’t ever actually open, no matter what the sign on the door says.) and bought a couple of [...]

Shit, Still Sick

Day: 381   While I have started to feel better, Felicia is still struggling; I managed to get the money back for our two day horse tour, we watch quite a bit of CNN, and we are planning (if we feel up to it) to try for a shorter 5 hour horse tour of the [...]
